The Waltz
The waltz, as we know it today, dates from the late 18th century and is the oldest form of ballroom dancing. According to one theory, its origins can be traced to the Volte, a Provençal dance also danced in ¾ time, whereas other historians believe it evolved from a form of German and Austrian folk dancing.
